Vacation rental upsells on autopilot
TravelPal sells late checkout, early check-in, mid-stay cleaning, and more in the guest chat, at the exact prices you configure, and collects the payment right there. Every sale is written onto the reservation, so your whole team sees the new time without anyone forwarding a message.
TravelPal is an AI guest messaging and upsell tool for vacation rental property managers, connecting to 33 property management systems including Guesty and Hostaway, priced at $25 per unit per month. The selling happens inside the conversations your own booking system already carries, and it is part of how TravelPal works from the first guest message on.
What TravelPal can sell: six upsells
Each one is priced by you, checked against your live calendar, and only offered when the answer can actually be yes.
Late checkout
A ladder of clock times, each with its exact price, quoted from the reservation's own planned departure. A paid band is an entitlement: a guest who paid to stay until a time is never charged twice inside it.
Early check-in
The same ladder, for arrival. When an early arrival needs the prior night free, TravelPal can hold that night on your own calendar so nobody books into it. More detail in selling early check-in.
Mid-stay cleaning
The guest picks the day and the hour, because a specific time is what your crew is dispatched on. Only days the guest is actually there, never the turnover day, and only with the notice your crew needs.
Damage waiver
A one-time, non-refundable charge offered instead of the refundable security deposit. It covers the whole stay, so it asks the guest for nothing but a yes.
Extra night before check-in
When the night ahead of the stay is free, it can be offered at your calendar's own rate for that night. The booking itself happens through the guest's own channel, which keeps every rule intact.
Extra night after checkout
The same for staying longer: availability comes straight from the live calendar you already keep, and the extension is booked where the guest booked, so an extra night can never overbook a unit.
When TravelPal offers an upsell, and how it closes the sale
TravelPal does not wait to be asked.
It offers first. Offers go out at the right moment before arrival and before checkout, in copy you write, and the same safety checks gate every proactive offer.
Timed to the stay, and to the guest. Offers are timed to the stay using the guest's traveler profile.
It respects nighttime at the property. The AI never starts a conversation in the middle of the night.
The price quoted is the price charged. When the guest says yes, the quote comes from your rate card to the cent, and the payment link is generated by the system and relayed exactly, so the AI cannot mistype a link or do arithmetic on an amount. One live offer per guest.
One sale covers the unit's month with $35 left over, and TravelPal takes no commission. The rest of the math is on the pricing page.
An illustrative conversation; the guest and unit are invented.
From guest message to money, in four steps.
The same careful path runs whether the guest asked or the offer went out on its own.
The ask, or the moment
A guest asks "can we stay until three?", or TravelPal offers on its own at the time you chose before arrival or checkout.
Priced from your rate card
The quote comes from the prices you configured and the reservation's live times, to the cent. The AI can never state a price it did not get from the pricing engine.
Calendar checked, then paid
A same-day turnover blocks the sale, checked at quote time and again at confirmation. Airbnb guests pay inside Airbnb; everyone else gets a secure card link.
Written back into your system
The reservation's time moves, a note lands on the conversation, and your team is notified. The original time is kept so the change can be undone.
How the money itself moves, channel by channel, is covered on collecting payment from Airbnb guests.
Late checkout revenue against the $25 fee
Your unit count, your price, your estimate of monthly sales, against the flat $25 per unit. There is also a standalone calculator with a shareable link.
At $60 each, 9 late checkouts a month cover the entire bill for all 20 units. Everything after that, and every other upsell, is yours: TravelPal takes no commission.
This is arithmetic over your own numbers, not a forecast. TravelPal does not publish a conversion rate; the monthly-sales figure is your estimate.
Upsell guardrails: what it will never do to make a sale
Upsells only work if guests and cleaners can trust them. These rules are built in.
A quote is a promise: a price already given to a guest is honored even if your selling window has since closed. And no promise beats the turnover: your cleaning crew's schedule wins over a sale, even one already quoted.
Upsell FAQ
Where do the prices come from?
From your own rate card. You set prices per unit, per group of units, or across every unit, as clock-time bands: a flat dollar amount, a percentage of that guest's own nightly rate read live from the reservation, or a full night's rate. The AI cannot invent a number; if it cannot price something, it hands the thread to your team instead of guessing.
Can it sell hours my cleaning crew needs?
No. Before offering a late checkout or early check-in, TravelPal checks the calendar for a same-day turnover, and it checks again at the moment the sale is confirmed. When in doubt, it does not sell. You also set how close to checkout an upsell can still be sold, and mid-stay cleanings respect the notice period your crew needs.
How do guests pay?
The route is decided by the guest's booking channel. Airbnb guests pay inside Airbnb through the Resolution Center. Guests from VRBO, Booking.com, and direct bookings pay by a secure card link, and the reservation updates automatically the moment the payment goes through.
What does my team see after a sale?
Everything, where they already look. The new checkout or arrival time is written onto the reservation in your own property management system, a note describing the sale lands on the guest's conversation, and your team is notified on every sale. The original time is kept, so a change can be undone exactly.
